Shah Rukh Khan’s hands tell us why and how he became so successful

Shah Rukh Khan reached the top in the Indian film industry, but he is not known as be a phenomenal actor or a great looker. As he not from a "filmi" background, one cannot help but wonder how exactly he made it in Bollywood. A look at his hand gives us some clues as to the secret of his success.

A combination of the most useful and essential qualities (for success) got SRK to where he is. The most impressive aspect of Shah Rukh’s personality is his

strong will-power. His thumb is a good one, showing great will and determination. Such a strong will can rub people the wrong way but Shah Rukh Khan compensates for this with adroitness and tact, shown not just by his thumb but also his Mercury. In fact Mercurian qualities predominate in his hand, giving him not just diplomacy wherever it’s needed, but also astuteness. He is a keen observer, a good judge of human nature, and has a way with words. This gives him an edge over others. It also makes him a successful manipulator (confirmed by his Jupiter finger).

This isn’t all. Shah Rukh's Mount of Mars is strong. This makes him aggressive. This is so pronounced in him that it can irritate others, but his shrewdness saves him most of the time. To make things easier for those around him, SRK  does not have a temper.

He does have plenty of mental strength however, another Mars quality. This strength stops him from being discouraged easily, and enables him to sustain himself in bad times and continue with his goals relentlessly, never quite giving up. Single-minded pursuit of his goal is something that comes naturally to him as he in an innately serious and intense person. SRK has an excellent Saturn finger, and one of the few I have seen which is strong but without Saturn’s negative influences. Saturn’s positive qualities are a boon for anyone. Wisdom, a sense of balance and single-minded purpose, without which it is difficult to be extraordinarily successful. SRK has a strong focus plus the ability to direct all available energy into his goals. He is the kind of person who will  go after what he wants and not rest until he gets it.

Shah Rukh's intensity and energy is evident on screen. It comes from deep inside and it is partly related to the strength of his Mercury. It is not just acting. Some of the roles he chose at the start of his career (example Darr) where he plays an obsessed and morbid lover are roles which he could play with aplomb because a part of him is like that. Obsessive. His strong Saturn confirms this reading. However this is in the realm of fantasy. In real life he is in balance because his head rules. That doesn't mean he doesn't feel intensely about wanting something.

Acting talent?
Intensity and energy are a part and parcel of his personality and his strong Mercury gives him a talent for mimicry. In fact his acting is very much based on this: imitation. He prefers some standard ways of acting. It is not as if he lacks creativity, just that he doesn't want to take the long road. If the short road works, he prefers the formulae.

SRK's drawbacks
All of the personality characteristics that I have mentioned above have their  downside, but there is something else. Mercury may give Shah Rukh his quickness and energy, but it also gives him a certain suspiciousness and shrewdness. He would at various points in his life have been tempted to take short-cuts, but he would be too smart to be caught. An overabundance of scruples is unlikely to stop him. Not when it comes to getting something he wants. However, there is another thing - he has the will to stop himself from doing something wrong and is overall a straightforward person.

What is SRK's driving force?
It is interesting to note that Shah Rukh Khan's hands show that he is not driven by a need for power, fame or money. Yes, recognition means a lot to him, but that's recognition rather than fame. But even more than recognition, there is something else.

It’s difficult to explain. He is basically an inward kind of person and tends to be melancholy at times, and seems to want to prove something to himself all the time. To himself or to those he loves. It’s some sort of self satisfaction or self actualization, a need to come up to his own idea of himself. Or to live up to some ideal. To win. That is important to him.

What's he like as a man?
Shah Rukh is a serious sort, although he has the ability to enjoy himself as well. He has a broad perspective on life, although he tends to be controlling and obsessive. He needs to be careful that he does not degenerate into a bully. However SRK's  head tends to rule and when he realizes that he is going to an extreme he can pull himself back. In fact he can be influenced and convinced. He is also smart enough to change himself. He can be quite moody.

He may not make the most attentive husband but he certainly is the kind who will be a committed family man. Doing anything else would mean a falling in his own estimation.
