Uddhav Thackeray – practical rather than idealistic

The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Uddhav Thackeray calling on the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, in New Delhi on February 21, 2020 (Uddhav Thackeray) (cropped)Uddhav Thackeray* became the Chief Minister of Maharashtra in controversial circumstances, by joining hands with a rival political party, which oddly enough was mentioned just passingly in Wikipedia. It was believed that joining hands with a party ideologically so polar opposite was going against the people's mandate. It is not surprising that today he has lost control over the Shiv Sena party. He went against its ideals, ostensibly so he could become the Chief Minister. This is something which would have shocked the founder of the Shiv Sena Party, Uddhav's own father –  Bal Thackeray.

What do Uddhav's hands tell us about his personality? He has long hands, in particular, a long palm, and in comparison, the fingers are short with rounded tips. The first phalanges are long, and the second phalanges are average. However, his head and heart lines appear to be balanced with each other and straightish (one can never be absolutely sure of the lines with the kind of photos one has to work with). His Apollo (ring) finger is dominant and the Jupiter finger is a little low-set. Both the Saturn (middle) and Jupiter (index) fingers are a little bent. The mounts of Lower Mars, Moon and Venus are the most developed mounts on the hand.

All these signs point to an enthusiastic individual, impatient at times, and certainly, quite action and goal-oriented, although with an intellectual and theoretical approach to problems. What saves him from becoming too theoretical
(perhaps) is the fact that he is an objective and independent thinker. He also has self-control and willpower.

You can check out his hand photos here and here.

Uddhav Thackeray's hands show a high level of aggression and a strong determination as well but this is superficial because he does not have that much staying power. He could find it difficult to handle adversity. Besides, there is a psychological cautiousness in his personality, possibly some diffidence, which basically means he is not as confident as he appears.

A high level of determination can be a great asset as long as it is used judiciously. Uddhav Thackeray’s hands show that this is not always done. There is a certain kind of doggedness and pushiness in his approach when he sets his mind on something, enhanced because of innate aggression and there is his theoretical approach as well, which means he could take faulty decisions. His stubbornness means that he does not always listen to others and at times his approach can be seen as overriding reason. He is a good thinker though and this can help him keep the balance as long as he is able to see things from a broad perspective. He could find this difficult. Thus when it comes to decision-making, relying on his good judgment and also becoming aware that at times it’s better to acknowledge a mistake, can be better than suffering the consequences of something that can't be undone.

His hand is representative of a typical politician's – in some ways. For one thing, there is a great desire for name and fame and there is selfishness present in his character – never a good combination for a politician. Secondly, manipulative abilities are present. However, unlike a typical politician, Uddhav Thackeray is not very people-oriented. Sure, he thinks with his heart at times, but even then, the great encompassing love for people or even strong ideals...these are missing on the hand. Without his machinations, he could never have become the CM.

Uddhav is more of a practical and cynical politician rather than an idealistic one.

  1. I have heard about Bal and Raj but never about Uddhav Thackeray. I read his Wikipedia bio after going through your post and it seems like he was more inclined towards the arts rather than politics. Perhaps that's the reason why he joined his family's domain so late? Overall, an interesting reading of a politician's palm. Especially one from such a famous lineage.

P.S. I am not sure if my previous comment was posted as I think an error occurred. If so, please delete that comment as both this one and that one are the same.

    1. I think you are right. He was not meant to be a politician. But the lure of being famous is the carrot which probably steered him in that direction. A way to fame, riding along on the Thackeray name.

  2. Does he have a forked head line?

    1. Nope. What appears to be a fork is actually a part of the fateline.
