Are all serial killers psychopaths?

Graphic serial killer
By 愚木混株 Cdd20 Pixabay
Do serial killers have traits in common? According to the FBI, while the motivations and methods of serial killers vary, most serial killers tend to be self-seeking, and use charm, manipulation, intimidation to satisfy their selfish desires. They exhibit sensation-seeking and predatory behavior, impulsivity, and a desire for control.

Not all serial killers are psychopaths, however. The psychos tend to exhibit a total lack of empathy, lack of guilt or remorse, are out of touch with reality and often live in a fantasy world. If one examines the hands of serial killers, which of these characteristics would be evident?

The hands of serial killers are mostly

Shiv Nadar's hands show a clear headed thinker

Shiv Nadar photo
The most striking aspect about Shiv Nadar’s hands is his dark, deeply etched lines. There aren't too many lines either. Also significant are his long Apollo (ring) and Mercury (little) fingers. Other hand features include a broad palm, well-developed mounts of Moon, Lower Mars, Jupiter and Venus and good first and second phalanges of the fingers. The thumb is a good length and the first and second phalanges are balanced. There is a good balance between the length of the fingers and the palm as well.

Shiv Nadar’s heart and head lines do not appear to be very long although they seem to have lighter extensions. Without seeing these clearly, it is difficult to draw conclusions about this aspect. Nadar's headline is considerably tied to the lifeline. The Sun/Apollo line is not as prominent as the main lines, busting the myth that

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum
HH Sheikh Hamdan is the Crown Prince of Dubai and is popularly known as Fazza.

Reading hands of royalty is fascinating as the environment tends to change them, resulting in some differences in their left and right hands. The active hand reveals the current active personality while the other hand shows the subconscious/inherited qualities.

Royals usually lead a life of luxury and don’t need to earn their living and this can change who they are. That is just one aspect of it. The second aspect is that royals generally get adulation from their people, more so if they are attractive, well-turned-out and active in social projects. Thus their primary motivation is different from that of the average person.

Does this mean that the current personality changes for the worse? Not necessarily, because it depends on what characteristics they are born with and the kind of environment they are brought up in. A loving, caring environment can assuage some negative qualities. Also, exposure to intellectual activities can help expand their horizon and their mind.

In the case of Sheikh Hamdan al Maktoum, the crown prince of Dubai, the right and left hands expectedly differ.

The hands of a handcuffed man...

There are hundreds of hand readings of famous people on this site and a few on palmistry as well. Some of the hand analyses are of notorious people like the serial killer Ted Bundy or this unnamed terrorist. Criminals' hands make a fascinating study although the hands cannot show whether a person will commit a crime in the future or even whether has done so in the past. The hand shows personality characteristics, not actual actions.

But one cannot discount the fact that the hand shows up weaknesses of personality, giving us hints about a person’s actions, criminal or not.

Prints of criminals are not available freely and a quick of check of some hand-cuffed people on the internet was disappointing. A lot of these are “stock” photos so we cannot confirm that they belong to criminals. Even if genuine, some handcuffed people could have been handcuffed for minor reasons. Despite these reservations, after studying a few of these photos, my conclusions are that many of these hands aren’t “good” in the normal sense. They do not have the best lines. One of these hands stood out and this is the hand being analysed here. It belongs to an unknown handcuffed man. Whether or not he has committed a crime I cannot say, but his hand shows proclivity.

These hands were selected as both the right and left hands have poor lines and therefore we can disregard (for the sake of study) the differences between the person’s active and passive hands.

Satyajit Ray, the personality

Director silhouetteConsidering that Satyajit Ray is such a legendary film/movie director, there isn’t too much information about his personality on the internet. There is a lot written about his achievements. Ray was more than just a filmmaker – he was a writer, music composer, calligrapher, artist and film critic. Yet, not many of us know who Satyajit Ray was as a human being. Perhaps his hands can give us some clues.

It wasn’t surprising to find a long, fine and curved headline ending on the Moon mount on Ray's hands, the hallmark of a creative mind. Such headlines show intelligence and imagination. The headline, however,

Freddie Mercury – a brilliant life cut short

Freddie Mercury was a rock star whose last days were tragic but he left behind a great musical legacy. With his incredible stage presence and incomparable voice, he became a Rock icon. He died at the age of 45, but his hand shows that his natural lifespan was a long one and he had good biological health. Had he not been struck down by AIDS, he would have lived to a ripe old age.

Freddie's lifeline was good (clear and long) but as you can see from this example, the lifeline cannot show the length of life. It can however show the natural lifespan if one is not attacked by disease or killed by accident. Of course, it is likely

Chester Bennington - Suicide and Hand Reading

Linkin Park-Rock im Park 2014- by 2eight 3SC0327Chester Bennington, a famous musician, died by suicide at 41, leaving fans shocked. Was there any indication on Chester Bennington’s hand which could have given a hint as to why he did it? Is there a clue in his personality?

Famous palmists like Cheiro have written about suicidal hands and such hands were mostly of people incapable of living a normal life due to their precarious mental state, unable to function in real life. It was rare for successful and famous people to kill themselves at the time.

Today it is more common. It may flummox ordinary people as to why a successful and famous person would want to die, but the pressures they face are high, and if their self-esteem is tied to continued success, it can lead to depression. Today, in modern times, success is transient, competition ruthless, the public fickle, and drugs and alcohol freely available and used without social stigma, particularly by the rich and famous. Whether related to this or not, the suicide rate amongst famous and successful people is rising, and some of these celebs have been known to suffer from depression and addiction issues.

It is known that Chester Bennington suffered from depression off and on from a young age, and also battled issues with addiction. Is this visible on his hand?

The hands of a serial killer – Ted Bundy

Ted Bundy was executed in 1989 at the age of 43, but his evil persona is recorded for posterity. He confessed to 30 gruesome murders but is believed to have committed many more, maybe around a hundred. If there ever was an evil character, it was Bundy.

Will the known psychological traits of this notorious murderer/serial killer/rapist be visible on his hands?

Ted Bundy was known to be:
  • Violent
  • Sexually deviant with a remarkable lack of guilt
  • A pathological liar
  • Manipulative
  • Organized and calculating
  • Charming, also appearing as kind and empathetic
  • Narcissistic, with poor judgement

Kishore Kumar's Hand Reading

Kishore Kumar was a singing legend - a great and renowned Indian music star. Besides his talent, he was known to be a very loving, generous, and passionate human being. However, this post will examine another aspect of his personality which is revealed by some interesting lines on his hand. it is quite fascinating from the point of view of Palmistry.

While it is well known that he had a turbulent personal life (4 marriages), and this is very unusual in India. It is less well-known that he was also considered a little eccentric, as this Wikipedia article says.

Interestingly, he has a double headline on his hand. While a double headline can show more than ordinary intellect/capability, it can also explain

Gay Celebrity Hands

Some celebs have come out of the closet like Elton John (singer), Ellen DeGeneres (talk show host), Neil Patrick Harris (actor), Wentworth Miller (actor), Jodie Foster (actor), Jim Parsons (actor), Matt Bomer (actor), Zachary Quinto (actor) and Ricky Martin (singer). Is their sexual orientation marked somewhere on the hand? Can Palmistry reveal the sexual orientation of a person?

The long ring fingers of Sharad and Ajit Pawar

It is common to see similar hand characteristics in parents and children, and at times even between grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Fingerprints can also be of similar shapes although actual details are different. This similarity is reflected in the personality traits which are often shared by family members.

It was interesting to note a similarity in the hands of Sharad Pawar and his nephew Ajit Pawar (elder brother’s son). This similarity lies in the formation of their Jupiter and Apollo fingers (index and ring fingers). In the hands of both these men, the Apollo or ring finger is longer than their Jupiter or index finger and it is nearer in length to the Saturn (middle) finger.

About Cheiro's hand

William John Warner, known as Cheiro, made palmistry well known but there are those who feel that his books do not explain exactly how he arrived at conclusions and it is something of a mystery as to how he made such accurate predictions. I tend to agree with this and believe that it is unlikely that Cheiro himself knew how he did it. His extraordinary ability probably came from strong intuition, bordering on sixth sense.

His hand corroborates this. It shows

The character of an unfortunate street urchin

The little boy in the sketch is not famous and never will be, in stark contrast to those who have found a place on this blog because of their celebrity status. This boy has little chance of becoming famous because he was born in poverty, and without inherited wealth, with no access to education or the caring environment of a family who could nurture his hidden talents and help him control his weaknesses, his life is probably doomed from the start.

He was on the streets, begging. Either his parents pushed him into it or he is an orphan – just one kid amongst thousands of street urchins, and reading his hand does not mean that the others on the street are like him.

This boy has one of the saddest hands I've seen. His right hand tells us what his character is likely to be when he becomes an adult, based on his status and circumstances today. Sure, he could change, although
