Rahul Dravid's hand reading

Rahul Dravid is known as “the wall” for his enormous resistance or staying power. Is this personality trait present on his hand? Generally speaking, the “resistance” that people have can be due to several overt reasons – strong willpower and determination, a cool head and inner mental strength. In Dravid’s case, it is more to do with his extraordinary willpower and less to do with mental strength.

Also, his hand has some features which are quite unlike the hands which are found on highly successful people.

Rahul Dravid
Strong willpower and a cool head are a formidable combination. In Rahul, these qualities are present not in average amounts, but in great amounts. He is known for being this way. The hand confirms a lot of what is known about his disposition.

The length of Dravid's thumb, the large, square palm, long fingers, the rounded/square tips of his fingers, and the long slightly sloping headline all contribute to the balance in his personality. There is no doubt that Rahul can push himself to an extreme degree. His self-control is just about extraordinary.

The first and second phalanges of the thumb, are well-balanced with each other, and if anything, the first phalange could be a little short. It is not short for normal people but if you consider the hands of many successful and powerful people, then this first phalange of the thumb can be considered on the shorter side. The mounts of Moon, Jupiter and Venus are well developed, even if the Mars mounts, especially Upper Mars, are not very developed. The finger of Saturn (middle finger) is slightly bent and long, longer than I have seen on the hands of successful and famous people, and the first phalanges of his fingers are all long. His lines are long as well.

Check out a photo of Rahul Dravid's hand here and here.

His intensity, seriousness, and ambitious nature further strengthen his willpower and focus. All his fingers are long and well-shaped, giving him an added balance of personality. The headline and lifeline are good and seem to be joined together. The heartline dips downward to the headline.

His capability cannot be underestimated. Not only is he smart and capable, but he also has a broad perspective on issues, is liberal thinking and has the ability to think as well as plan. He is also a warm person at heart and likes people. His hand show a marked shrewdness, diplomacy, and an understanding of people and he can be quite eloquent as well. This is surprising as he gives the impression of being the strong, silent type but actually, his hand shows that he can be verbose and a smooth talker.

His hand also shows organisational ability and the ability to get things done. All these qualities indicate that Rahul Dravid has the ability to lead a team. But when he was in his prime he did not reach his potential and did not make captain. His hand can give us some understanding of this.

There could be several reasons for this, according to his hand. His hand shows that he lacks boldness, sufficient self-confidence, aggressiveness as well as some cautiousness that prevented him from making a mark as a captain of a team. Taking risks and making bold decisions is a part and parcel of the job of a captain and being of a diffident nature, Dravid loses out here. Also, he is not too pushy enough and nor does his hand show that he is able to push others. In fact, he is all too reasonable and flexible, and will not stand his ground. A certain amount of timidity is present. His hand also reveals some element of cynicism and insecurity.

When it comes to inner mental strength, it is not as if Rahul lacks it entirely, but when one compares the strength of this quality to some of his other qualities, then he does need more of it. Every personality characteristic needs to be seen in perspective. Besides, a lot of successful people have immense staying power but Dravid does not. He would prefer to back out rather than confront.

So Rahul Dravid reached where he did by the sheer force of his talent but if he could not do more it is because in the sports arena there are a lot of ups and downs, and inner mental strength is what keeps a person’s confidence up. Mental strength is primarily about fighting qualities and these are likely not sufficiently developed in Dravid's hand.

Reading anyone's personality is a complex and difficult task, as people have many layers. However if one has to sum up his personality one can say that he has formidable determination and self-control, almost super-human at times.

  2. I guess he is more self centered, and perhaps that makes him a bad captain? As far as I know, Dravid has had the worst tenure as Indian captain in the recent Indian cricket history. No one can forget that loss to Bangladesh in the WC!

But as a batsman, he is sure a classy player. When everyone around him was getting out easily, he would just stay on and on... I wonder if intelligence has any connection to technique, flair and quality of playing...

  3. DI, I am sure that intelligence has a connection to his technique and flair. Personally I think he did not make a big mark as a captain (from his hand) is because he is not a risk-taker or bold and also because of a quality akin to selfishness although not exactly selfishness. It's some sort of insecurity that he has about himself, and I cannot explain it exactly without a better look at his hand.

  4. well rahul dravid is praised all across for his batting technique...some even refer him jokingly as a batting manual...one thing which i have observed in his batting is that no matter how good a person is batting at other end...he never changes his game...like you have a sehwag or a sachin tearing the bowlers apart but he just blocks the ball with a dead shot...

I once remember a match where he tortured the crowd by his slow batting...and the crowd started booing him...even after being booed he didn't stopped blocking the ball till he got out... :-)

is he a introvert???...does his hands reveal that...coz he really looks like one...

  5. Anonymous (Revathy?) few people are actually introverts or extroverts, most of us are inbetween, with a tilt towards one or the other. In Rahul's case, without getting a clear look at his lines I cannot take a call on this quality of his. He seems like a shy type to me too, but this is from what I have observed of him on the field. Even when it comes to his talent, I could not see his lines or his fingers properly enough to comment on his talent.
That incident about going on regardless of outside influences speaks of his strong will.
